On the 40th day of the Palestinian prisoners’ hunger strike, some prisoners have announced their intention to fast during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan which begins tomorrow.
One of the hunger strike leaders in Hadarim prison, Nasser Abu Srour, said that hunger-striking prisoners in the prison – who have been consuming only a mixture of salt and water since 17 April – will not consume any water from dawn until sundown during Ramadan.
Abu Srour said that the health of prisoners was deteriorating day by day, and that all hunger-striking prisoners in Hadarim had been taken to Israeli hospitals over the past week for medical tests.
