Israel police break US activist's arm

An American-Jewish activist had her arm broken by Israeli police who forcefully dispersed a Jerusalem Day protest last week, +972 Magazine reported.

Twenty-five-year-old Sarah Brammer-Shlay was part of a group of American and Israeli Jews who staged a peaceful sit-in at Damascus Gate last Wednesday. The demonstrators were trying to have the annual March of the Flags rerouted.

The activists were physically threatened by Israeli police who dragged them away from their sit-in, one in a headlock. The event was caught on camera and protesters can be clearly heard chanting “the whole world is watching” as they are dispersed.

According to +972 Magazine, Brammer-Shlay is due to have a $25,000 operation on her broken arm on Thursday.

In a statement released last week, Israel Police Spokesperson Mickey Rosenfeld did not deny that the police broke Brammer-Shlay’s arm. There has been no comment from the US following the incident.
