Switzerland may indict Tzipi Livni

The Swiss attorney general is considering presenting an indictment against former Israeli Foreign Minister and current MK, Tzipi Livni, on charges of war crimes, according to Israeli media.

Israel’s Channel 10 website quoted Swiss media outlets saying yesterday: “Switzerland’s attorney general’s office has confirmed that it is considering a request by a Geneva-based pro-Palestinian group [it did not specify which group].”

The site added that the suit was filed by the pro-Palestinian Swiss organisation against Livni, for her involvement in war crimes against Palestinians during the first war on the Gaza Strip between 2008 and 2009.

Livni recently visited Switzerland, but no legal measures were taken against her.

In last July, the British police summoned Livni for questioning regarding her role in war crimes committed during the first war on Gaza. However, she did not attend the questioning after receiving “immunity” from the Israeli Embassy in London.
