The owners of hotels and tourism companies in the Egyptian city of Luxor has shown dismay at their government’s decision to boycott Qatar saying that about 70 per cent of incoming tourism from East Asian countries use Qatar Airways.

The tourism community in Luxor called on EgyptAir to develop an urgent alternative plan to transport tourists coming to Egypt from China, Japan and Indian who used to travel via Qatar Airways.

Tourism expert, Mohamed Othman, who is a member of the Luxor Marketing Committee said Qatar Airways was bringing tourists from the three countries to Egypt, adding that the tour operators’ delegations used to come from Doha.
