Houthis: Saudi fighter jet downed over Sana’a

The Houthi group claims to have fired a surface-to-air missile that successfully targeted a Saudi aircraft near Sanaa

The Iranian-backed Houthis claim to have shot down a Saudi F-16 aircraft over Yemen’s capital Sana’a, reported Al Masdar.

The Houthi group fired a surface-to-air missile that successfully targeted the aircraft, they claimed online. The Houthi group announced the targeting of the aircraft on social media accounts, including YouTube and Telegram.

This is the second time the Houthis have alleged to have successfully targeted Saudi jets using surface-to-air missiles. The first was last time.

Since 2015, Saudi Arabia intervened in Yemen to reinstate President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and push back military advancements from the Houthis towards south of the country.
