A spokesman for the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), Brigadier General Ramadan Sharif, has threatened the newly-appointed Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed Bin Salman.

“Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, who threatened to move the battle into Iran, must realise the range of the Iranian missiles,” Sharif said in an interview on Iranian television, adding that “Iran will respond clearly and swiftly to any provocative behaviour by Saudi Arabia”.

The official added: “Iran has been patient and faced armed terrorist groups which are supported by Riyadh over the past years, but at this stage everyone must realise that any attempt to destabilise Tehran, even partially, will be faced harshly and swiftly.”

“Saudi Arabia has officially declared war on Iran and we will face any such threat,” Sharif said, referring to remarks made by Prince Mohammed in a recent interview in which he said that his country will not be bitten by Iran again.

“We will not wait for Tehran to move the battle to Saudi Arabia, but we will work to move it to its territory,” Bin Salman said.

On Wednesday, the Saudi king issued a royal decree appointing his son Prince Mohammed Bin Salman as crown prince and prime minister.
