Ghannouchi target of potential terror attack

Last month the Tunisian Ministry of Interior informed Faouzi Kamoun – director of Ennahda leader Rached Ghannouchi’s office – that he is the target of a serious and dangerous terror act and subsequently provided personal security for him.

The details of the threat against his life were not clear, Ennahda spokesman Emad El-Khomri told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed.

Security services are reported to have also informed Ennahda leader Rachid Ghannouchi of potential threats against his life and asked him to be cautious.

The Ennahda spokesman said a protest organised by the leader’s former bodyguards – who had been discharged after the completion of their working contract – had nothing to do with warnings of a potential threat against Ghannouchi’s life.
