The Yemeni army announced yesterday that 20 armed Houthis had been killed during three days of battles in the city of Midi in the northwest of the country, local news sites reported.

According to a military source, 46 others were wounded in battles.

Battles between the army and the Houthis have being ongoing for weeks in Midi, noting that the army has raided the city and controlled most of it.

Yemen has been devastated by more than two years of civil war in which President Abd Rabu Hadi’s government, backed by the coalition, is fighting to drive the Iran-allied Houthis out of cities they seized in 2014 and 2015 in a rapid rise to national power.
