Israeli Jewish settlers’ groups called for increasing raids of Al-Aqsa Mosque during the Jewish holidays which start on Thursday, Quds Press reported yesterday.

Israeli occupation authorities, Quds Press said, readied themselves to protect Israeli Jewish settlers who wish to raid Al-Aqsa Mosque.

There are a number of Jewish holidays from the end of September through to October and in previous years this has led to hundreds of settlers storming the Muslim holy site to perform prayers or tour the area while Muslim worshippers have had their access limited to been banned from entry at times.

Yesterday, scores of extremist settlers raided Al-Aqsa Mosque through the Mughrabi Gate under heavy Israeli police protection and severe restriction on the access of the Palestinians to their holy site.

The Islamic Awqaf Department in Jerusalem said 69 Israeli settlers raided Al-Aqsa Mosque during the morning shift and performed religious rituals there.
