Palestinians fear incitement as media comes out against Lebanon refugee camp

Palestinian refugees of Ein El-Hilweh refugee camp in Lebanon are fearful of an incitement campaign against their camp by the media, Quds Press reported yesterday.

Local sources from the refugee camp told Quds Press that a number of reports and articles targeting the camp had simultaneously appeared in the local media.

The sources said that these reports and articles have the same material and this proves that there is a single body which stands behind this campaign.

At the same time, the sources warned refugees against being affected by the campaigns which claim there are extremists in the camp.

Speaking to Quds Press, former Lebanese Interior Minister Bechara Merhej said Ein El-Hilweh poses a danger to itself and its surroundings due to the crises within it, as well as due to the existence of some individuals who have been trying to form organised groups.

Merhej said that there is an agreement among the Palestinian factions in Ein El-Hilweh and the Lebanese authorities to keep the refugee camp away from any political or military shakeup in cooperation with the Lebanese army and political factions.pal
