PA minister launches 3 infrastructure projects in Gaza industrial zone

Palestinian Authority (PA) Economic Minister and Head of General Commission of Industrial Zones Abeer Odeh has launched three infrastructure projects to rehabilitate an industrial zone in the Gaza Strip, Safa News Agency has reported.

The three projects, which are fully funded by the EU, will cover sanitation, electricity and filtered drinking water plants.

Launching the three projects came immediately after the industrial zone was handed over to the minister.

In a meeting with the USAID Odeh revealed that four contractors had already started the development works, which is is set to be finished in two months.

“Rehabilitation and development of Gaza’s industrial zone is at the top of the government’s agenda… because of its strategic role in strengthening the national economy and reducing unemployment and poverty rates,” the minister said.

Gaza’s industrial zone is located on the eastern border of Gaza City. It is 500 dunams, has 38 economic facilities and 2,000 workers.
