Qatari Ambassador Mohamed Al-Emadi said yesterday that his country supports Palestinian reconciliation whether it was signed in Cairo or Riyadh because “all Arabs are one nation,” Quds Net News Agency reported.

In a press conference held in Gaza he said that his country would continue supporting the Palestinian issue at all levels until the establishment of the Palestinian state on the 1967 borders.

He also stressed that his country supports Fatah and Hamas in their efforts to push forward reconciliation, stressing that the National Accord Government must carry out its duties in the Gaza Strip.

“Whenever we want to offer any assistance, we go to the government,” he said; “we want to see effective government serving all citizens at all levels”.

Hamas: Qatar always eager to end internal Palestinian rift

Al-Emadi called for the government to solve the problems in Gaza, including the electricity problem, employees and others.

Regarding Qatar’s stance towards Fatah and Hamas, he said: “Qatar has fixed positions towards Hamas and Fatah and both factions know these positions,” stressing that the “Emir [of Qatar] Tamim is one among the few leaders who [supports] the Palestinian issue and this will not change under any circumstances”.

The ambassador said that his country would not pay the salaries for Gaza employees because they “must be paid by their government”.

He noted that Qatar and Kuwait were the only two countries which fulfilled their pledges made at the Cairo Conference to reconstruct Gaza.
