Malaysia and Morocco discuss military cooperation

December 23, 2017 at 2:08 pm

Morocco’s minister delegate in charge of national defence administration, Abdellatif Loudiyi, and Malaysian Defence Minister Hisham Eddin Hussein agreed on Friday to reinforce their countries’ military cooperation, Anadolu has reported. The two officials met in Rabat where the Malaysian minister and a senior military delegate started their visit to the north-west African state. Senior Moroccan military officials also attended the meeting.

According to the Moroccan national defence department, the two ministers discussed the “promising horizons for the mutual cooperation within a framework of utilitarian benefit mainly, in the field of training, naval safety and the defence industry.” They expressed their desire to activate the military and technical cooperation deal, which is being finalised. Ongoing cooperation in the field of electronic security was also on the agenda.

This cooperation, the joint statement pointed out, has made “tangible progress” in the wake of signing a memorandum in 2015, which outlined the basis of cooperation and exchange of experience between the specialised departments of both countries.
