Israel sentenced 42 Palestinian minors to jail

Some 42 Palestinian children were handed jail terms by Israeli occupation forces last month, the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs said.

Their sentences ranged from between one and 22 months and a total of $32,175 in fines were also issued.

In total, 79 Palestinian minors were held in Ofer Prison last month.

According to the Commission, nine were arrested from their homes, 65 in the field, two at military checkpoints, and two others were arrested for not having permits to enter the occupied territories. In addition to this, one minor was arrested after being summoned for questioning.

In one case, a child was arrested after being shot. Furthermore, 42 others were beaten and abused during their arrest and transportation to Israeli interrogation centres.
