Turkey captures Daesh’s minister of agriculture

Turkish security authorities today arrested ten Daesh suspects, including one who served as the group’s minister of agriculture.

According to the Anadolu Agency, Turkish gendarmerie launched security operations in the states of Kayseri and Gaziantep in an effort to identify Daesh members.

Nine of those held, including the minister, were arrested in Kayseri while the final suspect was detained in Gaziantep.

Turkey’s 565-mile border with Syria has long been a gateway for goods and people into the war torn country. As a result, security forces have fortified the border however officials have warned that it is impossible to control among the flood of refugees.

The number of refugees in Turkey reached over 3.7 million in 2017, making Turkey the country in the world with the highest number of refugees, according to the European Commission.
