Jordan Air Force Commander says army to restructure its forces

Major General Yousef Ahmed Al-Hnaity, Commander of the Royal Jordanian Air Force said the army will restructure  it forces to ensure its ability to carry out its tasks.

General, Al-Hnaity made the announcement during a meeting with retired army men, the official Jordanian news agency reported.

“It was and remains King Abdullah II’s vision that the (armed forces) remain an example of professionalism and excellence in all fields, operational, logistical, technical and administrative fields” he said.

“In this regard, he has issued directives to reorganize and restructure our brave armed forces, in line with the successive circumstances and developments in the regional and global arena to be able to carry out the mission within an alliance or individually within our homeland borders or outside”.

Jordan has been a member of the US-led international coalition against Daesh in Iraq and Syria since August 2014 along with 60 countries.

The Jordanian King exempted in December, last year his two brothers Prince Faisal and Ali bin Al Hussein from their military posts and referred them to retirement. Local media at the time quoted official sources as saying that the decision came within the framework of controlling costs and restructuring the military.
