Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi dismissed France’s statements about Iran’s missile programme and regional policy, stressing that the country’s missile programme will continue, Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency reported yesterday.

“Iran’s positions about the remarks sometimes heard from certain French statespersons or raised in the media are fully transparent and clear,” Fars quoted Qassemi as saying.

Further defending the Iranian missile programme, Qassemi said: “This policy and our missile programme are no violation of the UN resolutions and rules.”

Qassemi’s remarks came a day before French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian’s visit to Tehran which begins today.

“We will continue our national policies in the missile and defence issues … and will not allow any country to interfere in such issues and Iran’s policies,” he added.
