The Iraqi judiciary sentenced six Turkish women to death on Monday for joining the Daesh terrorist organisation, AFP has reported. One other defendant was sentenced to life imprisonment.

This is the second group of Turkish women to receive death sentences in Iraq lately. Last month, the Iraqi Central Criminal Court gave capital sentences to 13 Turkish women, also for joining Daesh.

In what was the first sentence of its kind handed to a European citizen, Iraq recently sentenced to death a German-born jihadist of Moroccan origin for joining Daesh.
