Sudan foreign minister sacked

Sudan’s Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ghandour has been relieved of his duties yesterday following the issuance of a presidential decree, Sudan News Agency reported.

On Wednesday, Ghandour updated parliament on the state’s position regarding the disputed region of Halayeb.

The minister said Khartoum has submitted three complaints against Egypt to the UN Security Council over violations committed in the area.

He also asked lawmakers to intervene and help his ministry which suffers from major financial difficulties.

The minister said the ministry has been unable to pay the salaries of Sudanese diplomats abroad and the rent of Sudanese diplomatic missions for several months now.

Ghandour, 66m assumed his post in 2015. He served as Sudanese presidential aide from December 2013 to June 2015.
