On Monday, Anis Jarboui, a member of the Tunisian Independent High Authority for Elections, said, “we have not yet received data on the provision and distribution of political funds during the voting process in the municipal elections, on Sunday.”

On the sidelines of a press conference, at the headquarters of Palais des Congrès in Tunis, Jarboui told Anadolu: “If a video or any evidence of this is provided by witnesses, it will be referred to the judiciary.”

He stressed that, “if there are violations there will be financial and political penalties”.

On Sunday, Hafedh Caid Essebsi and the head of Nidaa Tounes Movement party (who is also the son of the Tunisian president) posted a video on Facebook page saying that the elections Authority had remained silent about various serious violations that his party claims to have documented during the voting process.

In a statement, Sunday, the Popular Front said that the elections were beset by violations, including distribution of propaganda in front of the voting centres and the distribution of propaganda materials.

Similarly a statement by the Machrouu Tounes Movement claimed serious violations on the voting day and accused the electoral subsidiary bodies of being silent in front of such violations.
