Palestinians in Israel seek to take their issues to global arenas, Safa News reported the head of the Joint List’s International Relations, Yousef Jabareen, saying yesterday.
As he received the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Minority Issues, Fernand de Varennes, who travelled to Israel to take part in a conference organised by Palestinians in Israel, Jabareen said: “This is the first time that the Arabs host a senior international figure.”
The conference is being organised by the Joint List in the Israeli Knesset in cooperation with the Rights Club affiliated with the High Follow Up Committee of the Arab citizens in Israel.
Jabareen said that De Varennes received an official invitation from the High Follow Up Committee to take part and deliver a speech in the conference.

“There is no doubt that the initiative of the Follow Up Committee to organise a human resources conference is a turning point in our development journey,” Jabareen said. “This should unite efforts and the contribution of everyone of the Arab community in Israel.”
He added: “This is the first time we host a senior international figure on human rights. This is a qualitative jump regarding the internationalisation of the issue of the rights of the Arab community [in Israel]. We set a goal and the participation of De Varennes is considered a boost that raises our issues to the international arenas.”
