The deputy head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Hossein Salami yesterday said that it is important to rely on resistance rather than diplomacy in order to face the economic war waged by the West against his country, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.
Salami said that US President Donald Trump’s withdrawal from the nuclear agreement is just a means through which he is hoping to achieve his goal of making the Iranian people surrender. “The enemy never chooses the military option against Iran, but holds on to the option of an economic embargo.”
They want to pressure our country by economic isolation … Resistance is the only way to confront these enemies, not diplomacy.
While, according to the New York Times, Britain, France and Germany said they remained committed to the deal despite Trump’s decision, the Iranian leader said that Europe cannot act independently. “Exiting the deal and their concerns over Iran’s missile work are excuses to bring our nation to its knees.”
“Wherever Iran has confronted its enemies, it has advanced; we have gained our power through difficult battles,” Salami said.
