The main  Tunisian labour union is considering responding to the US’s decision to move its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem by preventing US ships from using Tunisian ports.

According to Mohammed Abbas, Assistant General Secretary of the local Labor Union in Tunisia, “The union is considering a proposal to prevent the offloading and shipment of American ships entering Tunisian ports as a way to condemn US President Donald Trump’s decision to transfer US embassy to Jerusalem.”

Abbas’s statements to Anadolu came on the sidelines of a public meeting held by the local union in Sfax  on Sunday.

Abbas stressed that the Union is waiting for “our trade union bodies to issue a decision so that we could coordinate between us and put this proposal into practice.”

Abbas did not mention the need for the approval of his country’s government or sovereign bodies, as a prelude to the implementation of this proposal.

“We strongly support the right of return to Palestinians who have been forcibly displaced from their lands since 1948,” added Abbas.
