The Saudi-led coalition yesterday called on the residents of the Red Sea port of Hudaydah to stay in their homes and not to approach Houthi groups in the city, Turkey’s Anadolu Agency reported.

This came hours after the coalition launched a military operation dubbed “Golden Victory” to retake the city from the Houthis.

The agency reported local residents as saying that the coalition helicopters had distributed leaflets over the province of Hudaydah, calling on the residents to stay indoors and not to approach militia localities.

According to the same sources, the forces opened corridors to the north of the city to allow Houthi families to leave towards the capital Sana’a.

The Yemeni government announced in a statement that all peaceful and political means had been exhausted to remove the Houthis from the strategic port of Hudaydah with coalition forces giving the Houthis a deadline to withdraw from the city by Tuesday or risk attack.
