TV presenter Shireen Al-Rifaie is being investigated by the Saudi General Commission for Audiovisual Media after appearing on TV in “indecent” clothing, according to the commission.

According to a post on its Twitter account, the Commission said the reason for the investigation was “a video of the TV presenter which has been circulated on social media in which she appeared to present a report on woman’s driving in clothing which was indecent, in violation of regulations and instructions.”

In the clip, Al-Rifaie can be seen wearing a white abaya, traditional cloak, which had only one button and flew open as she walked towards the camera showing her tight clothing beneath. Her scarf was also loosely placed on her head with her long locks clearly visible.

The Saudi presenter was documenting her first experience of driving following the lifting of the ban on female drivers in the Kingdom.

The video has led to social media users to launch the hashtag “naked woman drives in Riyadh” in Arabic.
