The Israeli army yesterday deployed several armoured and artillery forces into the Israeli-occupied Syrian territory of the Golan Heights.

According to an Israeli army spokesperson, the deployment of Israeli forces came in the wake of an assessment of the position of the “Northern Military Command” in light of developments on the Syrian side of the border, deciding it is necessary to strengthen the occupied Golan Heights’ armoured forces and artillery.

The spokesperson added that the Israeli army considers it very important to maintain the disengagement agreement between Israel and Syria which was agreed in 1974.

According to Ynet news website, speaking during the cabinet meeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel will keep protecting its borders but won’t allow refugees into Israel.
