Palestinian National Observatory for Earthquakes monitored over 100 earthquakes in northern areas of Lake Tiberius and the Dead Sea since 3 July, 15 of them occurred on Monday, the official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported.

Walaa Ajaj, who monitors earthquake activities, said the earthquakes that hit the region ranged between 1 and 4.5 on the Richter scale.

She also said that the vast majority hit the northern regions of Tiberius, while little tremors hit the Dead Sea area and Eilat.

The monitor also said that 11 earthquakes struck the northern region of Tiberius on Monday, ranging between 1.5 and 3.1 on the Richter scale.

The last one, Ajaj said, occurred at 23:42 and measured 2 on the Richter scale at a depth of five kilometres below sea level and 12 kilometres north of the city of Tiberius.

Ajaj noted that the Dead Sea region was hit by four light earthquakes ranging in strength between 1.5 and 2 on the Richter scale.
