The Jordanian authorities on Thursday arrested a woman who raised a weapon in the face of a judge in the capital, Amman.

Turkey’s Anadolu news agency quoted an official security source at the General Security Directorate as saying that “the woman raised the gun in front of the judge during one of the hearings today (Thursday) and was arrested”.

The unnamed source added that “investigations are still ongoing with the woman who was transferred to a women detention facility until investigations are completed”. The source gave no further details.

However, Jordanian Al-Ghad newspaper reported that the woman was “involved in a forced eviction case during which she raised a pistol in front of the judge before a security officer intervened and managed to control her”.
