Senior Hamas member Mousa Abu Marzouq said on Thursday that a delegation from Gaza had held an “important” and “comprehensive” meeting with Egyptian intelligence officials in Cairo.
“The meeting,” he wrote on Twitter, “discussed most of the issues related to all the Palestinians, mainly [the] brothers in the Gaza Strip.”
The Hamas delegation headed to Cairo on Wednesday at the invitation of the Egyptians. The movement said on its official website that they would discuss “mutual relations and the latest Palestinian and Arabic developments.”
The delegation consisted of Hamas Deputy Leader Saleh Al-Arouri and senior leaders Khalil Al-Hayyah, Hussam Badran, Izzat Al-Resheq and Rawhi Mushtaha, as well as Abu Marzouq.
Other Palestinian factions, including Fatah, Islamic Jihad and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) have also been invited to Cairo for talks. Most have already met with the Egyptian officials.
