An Israeli delegation has visited Cairo to discuss business and economic relations with senior Egyptian officials, Today’s Opinion news website reported on Friday. The Israeli delegation also met officials from the US Embassy in Cairo along with Egyptian businessmen, who were not named in the reports.

According to the news website, the Israeli group hailed the readiness of the Egyptians to work “side by side” with Israel’s government and companies to increase business between the two countries based on the Qualifying Industrial Zone (QIZ) initiative.

QIZ was established by the US Congress in 1996 to support the peace process in the Middle East. It allows Egypt and Jordan to export products to the United States duty-free, as long as these products contain input from Israel. The Israeli delegation called for more Egyptian companies to be able to export duty-free products to America.
