Italy yesterday renewed its call to solve the humanitarian crisis in the besieged Gaza Strip.

In a statement, the foreign ministry said: “The latest escalation raises again the urgent need to work towards reaching a solution for the humanitarian crisis and seeking a political solution in Gaza.”

The ministry hopes that “violence is not renewed and all sides respect the ceasefire.”

In April, Italy highlighted the “urgent need to reach a political solution that allows Israelis and Palestinians to live side by side safely and securely.”

On Thursday, a senior Hamas source stressed that an Egyptian brokered ceasefire was reached between the Palestinian resistance and Israel.

This came after occupation forces fired 150 missiles at Gaza killing four Palestinians, including a pregnant mother and her toddler, and wounding dozens more.
