The Israeli government yesterday approved a significant expansion of Hebron area settlement Kiryat Arba’s industrial park, reported the Jerusalem Post.

According to the paper, the settlement’s industrial park will be more than tripled in size, at a cost of 10 million shekels ($2,693,919).

The director of the company which runs the settlement industrial park said that the expansion will remain “within the boundaries of the settlement”.

He also claimed that it will provide job opportunities for both settlers and local Palestinians.

According to the report, “the decision amends a package of steps the government took to strengthen the [settlement]” in 2016.

Kiryat Arba is one of more than 200 illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory, colonies which are at the heart of a discriminatory regime.
