Well-informed Iraqi political sources revealed on Sunday information concerning the formation of alliances that are paving the way for the announcement of the largest parliamentary bloc and the agreement on the selection of names for the three leadership positions.

In an interview with Arabi21, The sources revealed: “The surprising news to which we could not find an explanation in the alliances that are being held between the Sunni political blocs is the Saudi-Iranian consensus in support of one party to lead the Sunni alliance.”

The sources added that “Saudi Arabia is supporting Al-Hal Party led by Jamal Al-Karboli, to lead the National Alliance of the Sunni group, which has been recently formed, and that the party nominated one of its leaders Mohamed Al-Halbusi for the presidency of the parliament.”

They pointed out that: “Al-Halbusi himself is highly supported by the Deputy Chairman of the Popular Mobilization Committee, Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, who is close to Iran, to be President of the Parliament.”
