Israel arrested 484 Palestinians in August

Israeli occupation forces arrested 484 Palestinians in August, including 62 children and 18 women, a report by rights groups revealed yesterday.

As a result of the arrests, the activists said, the number of Palestinian prisoners being held in Israeli jails has risen to 6,000, including 51 women and girls and 430 who are being delf under administrative detention.

According to the report, the Israeli occupation issued 100 administration detention orders, including 41 new orders and 59 renewals.

A number of administrative detainees launched a hunger strike and others joined them, the report added. While they also continued their boycott of Israeli courts, action they launched in February.

Regarding women, the report said that the Israeli occupation has arrested 90 women and girls since the start of the year. An increase in the number of females arrested in previous years when the number was 106 in 2015, and 150 in both 2016 and 2017.
