The Libyan Civil Aviation Authority yesterday announced the suspension of flights into and from Mitiga International Airport after a missile attack.

The closure has been put in to place until further notice and flights have been diverted to Misrata Airport.

The airport reopened on Friday after the ceasefire brokered by the UN that ended clashes between armed groups in southern suburbs of Tripoli that resulted in more than 40 deaths and about 130 wounded.

Eyewitnesses told local media that they heard heavy weapons being used in clashes in several areas in Tripoli, stressing that Mitiga International Airport was targeted with several missiles.
