The Iraqi Central Criminal Court on Wednesday sentenced a man to 15 years in prison for offering to sell his daughter for $16,000.
“The Central Criminal Court has reviewed the case of a convicted man after he had confessed to selling his daughter more than once for 20 million Iraqi dinars ($16,000) for prostitution” Judge Abdul- Sattar Bayraqdar, a spokesman for the Supreme Judicial Council said in a statement.
The court has decided to sentence the man to 15 years in prison, he added.
Judge Bayraqdar explained that the verdict was issued against the victim by Article 6 of the Law against human trafficking no. 28 of 2012”.
