Qatar has granted 1,516 Jordanians permission to work in the country and that 816 Jordanians have already arrived in Doha to work, Jordan’s Labour Minister Samir Murad said yesterday.

In July, the Jordanian minister announced that Qatar will provide 10,000 jobs to Jordanians as part of an initiative to support the Kingdom. Under the initiative, Qatar also pledged a $500 million investment package for infrastructure projects in Jordan.

Murad explained that another 700 Jordanians are finalising their paperwork before leaving to Qatar. They will work in various sectors including health care, education, finance, insurance, services, construction, hotels, tourism, agriculture and livestock.

He praised the great efforts made by his Qatari counterpart which contributed to the issuance of work visas for the workers.
