The remainder of Syria Civil Defence team, the White Helmets, are expected to leave Jordan and resettle in European countries over the next two week, a Jordanian foreign ministry official announced yesterday.

Ministry spokesman, Majed Alqatarneh said: “279 of the 422 rescuers and their relatives who had entered the kingdom have left for resettlement,”  noting that the government has allowed them “to pass through its territory temporarily for resettlement in Western countries at the request of the United Nations for “purely humanitarian reasons”.

Alqatarneh explained that the 93 other rescuers and their relatives are expected to leave on 25 October.

The rescuers are expected to be resettled in Britain, Canada, Germany and the Netherlands.
