As many as 12 people have been killed and 126 were injured by cyclone Luban that hit Al- Muhra governorate in Yemen, the Yemeni Red Crescent reported yesterday.

Director of the health office in Al-Muhra governorate, Awad Mubarak, told the Anadolu Agency that 12 people were killed after the cyclone struck the area, adding that there are concerns about the spread of diseases like cholera and malaria if immediate action is not taken to remove the waters which resulted from the cyclone.

Disaster coordinator for the Yemeni Red Crescent, Wael Karim said the body of a Somali man named Omar Jamaan was found while searching for missing persons increasing the number of people killed by the cyclone to 12.

He pointed out that relief workers are continuing their work to provide meals for the displaced persons adding that floods have continued although the cyclone ended on Saturday.
