Egyptian writer, Fahmi Huwaidi has commented on the murder of Saudi journalist, Jamal Khashoggi who was killed inside his country’s consulate in Istanbul earlier this month saying “what happened to Khashoggi is shocking but not surprising because this is a common approach in many Arab countries”.

“We are all Khashoggi and they are all bin Salman,” he told Al Jazeera Mubasher TV channel.

According to Huwaidi, Khashoggi’s case has turned into an international issue after Western media has put it under the spotlight.

“Violating and crushing free opinion is a permanent policy in many Arab countries,” he said adding that “Khashoggi’s death will have tragic repercussions on the Arab world”.

Huwaidi also said in an interview with Deutsche Welle that Khashoggi’s death would cause a rift among supporters of Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman.
