34 doctors, officials on trial following death of 10 patients in Egypt

Egyptian authorities are probing the death of ten patients during treatment in Khanka Mental Health Hospital in Cairo, local media reported yesterday.

Egypt Today said that a total of 34 officials were referred for trial for negligence that led to the death of the ten patients.

In August 2015, ten patients died at the Khanka Mental Health Hospital in Cairo after suffering heatstroke, the paper reported.

The Egyptian Public Prosecution is also investigating the death of a businessman who passed away during surgery.

According to Russia Today, the man’s wife filed a complaint against the doctors accusing them of medical negligence.
