Iran has imposed prison sentences ranging from ten days to two months or 74 lashes on plastic surgeries known as “cat eye” and “donkey ear”.

A spokesman for the judicial and legal committee of the Islamic Consultative Assembly Hassan Norouzi said in a statement that the sentences will include the cosmetic surgeons as well as people who demand them.

The Iranian official explained that the unconventional procedures fit article 638 of the Islamic criminal law and are considered a “criminal act”.

In recent years, Iran has seen an increased interest in plastic surgeries, especially rhinoplasty.
