A new trend of Facebook sponsored adverts which market loans for properties in occupied Jerusalem are reportedly a ploy to transfer Palestinian property in to the names of settlers, Quds News Network reported.

The companies marketing these loans use the economic hardships that Palestinians in Jerusalem are facing as a result of the systematic discrimination and deprivation of their rights. Additionally, Jerusalemites are subject to the Arnona tax (municipal tax) to pay for the municipality services in their city, Arnona taxes can exceed the annual rent of low-income families.

Quds News added that this is part of the Israeli occupation’s Judaisation policies in occupied Jerusalem, quoting the senior Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Ekrima Sabri, who warned Jerusalemites against falling into these trap. Sabri mentioned that it’s beneficial for the Israeli companies to target Palestinians who cannot afford to repay loans as their homes can then be repossessed and transferred in to Israeli ownership.
