The Iraqi army has hit Daesh sites situated in Syria with heavy artillery, security sources have claimed.

According to the Iraqi News Agency, the sources stated that: “Al-Shaafah and Hajin, in addition to the Syrian areas near Al-Qa’im district west of [the Iraqi city of] Anbar, was subject to heavy artillery shelling by the army.” Several Daesh members have been reported dead or injured. The source added that:

The region is one of the most important concentration points for Daesh. Many reports confirmed the degradation of morale among members of the organization after the closure of all security gaps leading to the Iraqi territories, which leaves them trapped under the heavy shelling of artillery and air forces.

“Targeting the area of Al-Shaafah [southeast of Deir Ez-Zour in eastern Syria] by the [Iraqi] army artillery has occurred following intelligence information which enabled the security forces to strike the targets in the right place,” the Iraqi News Agency added.

It is noteworthy that the artillery of the Iraqi army is constantly bombarding locations where Daesh is stationed deep inside Syria.
