The Banias Church in the Syrian occupied Golan Heights has been found vandalised, Arab48 reported yesterday.

This came after a similar crime carried out against the Maaloul Church in the occupied Arab Village, 12 kilometres south of Nazareth, where the Arab citizens in Israel are banned by an Israeli court to renovate the only mosque in the village after one of its walls was damaged by Jewish settlers.

Israeli radio Reshet Bet reported that a complaint was filed to police about intentional damage caused to the Banias Church.

The church has been deserted since the Israeli occupation of the Golan Heights in 1967. Recently, the representative of the church in the country decided to renovate it and reopened it for worship.
