The Committee for Families of Martyrs in the Gaza Strip said yesterday that the Palestinian Authority (PA) has cut the salaries of 1,700 families of martyrs and the wounded, the Shehab News Agency reported.

According to the committee, the families whose salaries were delayed last month are those whose payments were cut this month.

The group’s spokesman Maher Badawi said that he sent a message to Chairwoman of the PLO’s Families of the Martyrs and Wounded Institution Intisar Al-Wazir.

On Tuesday, the PA paid the salaries of its employees in the besieged Gaza Strip and occupied West Bank. The PA paid 75 per cent of the salaries for its employees in Gaza after two years of paying only 50 per cent as part of punitive measures it has imposed on Palestinians in Gaza.
