Hamas yesterday called on Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, Jerusalem and other Palestinian territories to defend Al-Aqsa Mosque and defy the Israeli decision to close the sacred site.

In a statement published on its website, Hamas urged Palestinians to uphold their inalienable right move in and out of the holy compound freely.

Meanwhile, it urged the Arab and Islamic people along with all free people of the world to take a firm stance towards Islam’s third-holiest site.

“Arab and Muslim nations have to act immediately in order to stop the Israeli violations and attacks on Jerusalem, its residents and holy sites,” Hamas said.

Concluding its statement, the movement added: “The Palestinian people are determined to undermine the Israeli measures aimed to impose a new reality in Al-Aqsa Mosque and to deny them their right to access the sacred compound.”
