Iman Al-Tayeb doesn’t just make art on paper, she makes art with paper.

“I thought about why paper isn’t the main material in paintings,” she explains, “so I researched it and discovered there is an art in Japan which encompasses drawing using coloured paper. I wanted to be the first artist to bring this to Palestine.”

Iman discovered her skills at school when she was asked to create artwork from natural materials. She created two pieces of art using only paper.

At first, she cuts coloured paper into narrow strips and then curls and glues them to a board to make a 3D piece of art.
