A Qatari tribesman who was promoted as a prominent opponent of Qatar's policies in the region, Sheikh Talib Bin Mohamed Bin Lahoum Bin Sherim, leader of Al-Murra tribe yesterday returned to his home country seeking forgiveness from Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani.
The Arab21 news site quoted an unnamed informed source as saying that Sheikh Talib and his family arrived at the Hamad International Airport in Doha and handed himself voluntarily over to the local authorities.
The source said Sheikh Talib has asked Sheikh Tamim to forgive him for what he had said during his time in Saudi Arabia.
Sheikh Talib has been living in Saudi Arabia since Riyadh imposed an embargo on Qatar, and has repeatedly been seen on Saudi media attacking Doha.
The Qatari authorities had revoked Sheikh Talib's nationality. It is unknown whether the emir has agreed to forgive him.
