Teacher at Egypt’s Al-Azhar forced students to undress to pass exams

Egypt’s Al-Azhar University has suspended one of its teachers who forced his students to take off their trousers in order to pass their exams.

The Dean of Al-Azhar’s Education Faculty, Hishmat Abdul-Hakim, said that the academic in question was suspended immediately after news of the incident was revealed, the New Khalij reported yesterday.

“It is an unacceptable act to be conducted by a member of the teaching board,” Abdul-Hakim said.

The teacher asked some of his failing students to take off their trousers in order to pass their exams, the report said, noting that some of the students agreed while others refused.

Justifying his action, the teacher wrote on Facebook that he had wanted to test the students’ faith by playing the role of the devil. He added that it was a positive experience, but the problem was those students who posted pictures of the incident on social media.
